Connect the Shopify Store
Connecting Shopify gives WardrobeIt the supported product data needed for recommendations, Product Q&A, and valid cart actions.
Connection process
Work through each step in order. Keep credentials inside Merchant Portal and confirm the store before you approve access.
Sign in to your WardrobeIt merchant account and select the correct workspace.
Open Merchant PortalIn Merchant Portal navigation, open Integrations or Store Connection. Available platforms for your workspace should appear.
Select Shopify. The connection screen should show:
Status before setup: Not Connected
Enter your permanent Shopify domain.
your-store.myshopify.com
WardrobeIt should validate the domain format before continuing.
Review Merchant Portal access requirements. WardrobeIt should request only what the supported connection and catalog sync need.
Depending on the active implementation, access may include:
Do not continue until an approved administrator understands and approves the requested access.
Create or retrieve the approved custom-app Admin API token in Shopify, then paste it into the secure WardrobeIt token field.
Keep the token inside the protected workflow. WardrobeIt should mask it after save.
Connect Shopify StoreWardrobeIt will validate the store domain and token.
After validation, the Shopify screen should show Connected, the store domain, and the next catalog-sync action.
Check domain spelling, token value/status, required access, store permissions, and that the token belongs to the same store.
Do not create new tokens until you review the error and troubleshooting guidance.
Synchronize and Review the Catalog
After connection validates, WardrobeIt imports or updates supported product data for the shopper experience.
Supported synchronization
Exact fields depend on Shopify data and the current WardrobeIt sync support.
Sync status guide
Use these states to track connection health and catalog readiness.
Credentials validated and the store is linked to the workspace.
Importing or updating supported products and variants. Avoid changing credentials during sync.
Connected, but some items need attention—missing images, incomplete descriptions, invalid variants, or items that could not be processed.
Supported catalog processed and ready for review and testing.
Catalog review
Confirm panel totals and spot-check products before you continue.
Spot-check products across collections: name, image, description, price, options, variants, product page, and synchronized availability.
Test the Connection
Connected status only means WardrobeIt can reach the store. Complete product, recommendation, and cart checks before continuing.
Search across collections and confirm expected products appear.
Check multi-option products: valid variants only, correct synchronized prices, and accurate sale info where supported.
Compare selected products with Shopify. Synchronized availability can change before checkout.
Confirm unavailable or inactive products are not recommended as eligible. Use only exclusion controls that appear in the active Merchant Portal.
Request products and open the links. Each recommendation should open the correct merchant Shopify product page.
Add a valid product and variant. Confirm quantity, Shopify cart confirmation, and checkout continuity. Treat items as added only after the merchant cart confirms.
Troubleshooting
Use these checks when connection, sync, recommendations, or cart actions fail.
Use the permanent myshopify.com domain. Do not enter an admin URL, product URL, theme preview URL, or another store's domain.
Confirm that the token is active, belongs to the same Shopify store, includes the required access, and was pasted only into the secure Merchant Portal field.
Review products marked Needs Review. Common causes include missing product images, incomplete descriptions, invalid variants, unclear product options, unavailable products, or unsupported product attributes.
Check catalog sync status, product availability, product data quality, collection data, tags or attributes where supported, and whether the shopper request matches the connected catalog.
Review Shopify source data for size, color, option names, variant combinations, and price accuracy. WardrobeIt should not create invalid product combinations.
Test a valid product, variant, and quantity. Confirm that the Shopify cart accepts the action and that the selected product remains available for checkout.
WardrobeIt uses current synchronized availability. Shopify and the merchant cart remain the final authority at checkout.
FAQs
Open the Merchant Portal, select Integrations, choose Shopify, enter your permanent myshopify.com domain, add the approved custom-app Admin API token in the secure token field, validate the connection, and review the connected store status.
Connect Shopify in the Merchant Portal, sync supported catalog data, review variants and prices, then test recommendations, Product Q&A, and Add-to-Cart before installing the storefront widget.
Sync can fail when the domain is wrong, the token is invalid or under-permissioned, product data is incomplete, variants are unclear, images are missing, or products cannot be processed.
You need an active merchant account, Shopify admin access, a permanent myshopify.com domain, owner/admin approval, and an approved custom-app Admin API token entered in the Merchant Portal.
Timing depends on permissions, token readiness, catalog size, and data quality. Finish catalog review and connection tests before assistant setup.
Search for products from multiple collections, review variants and prices, check synchronized availability, open recommendation links, and test Add-to-Cart with a valid product and variant.
WardrobeIt uses current synchronized Shopify availability unless real-time validation is active. Shopify and the merchant cart remain responsible for final product, price, variant, and availability validation.
Use the Troubleshooting guide or contact support. Include the store domain, visible connection status, catalog sync status, relevant product or variant, and the error message shown in the Merchant Portal.
